The lull period before the start of the new competitive season in League of Legends is reaching its end. And on happysmurf.com, there’s never a lull. Today the names of the participants of LEC 2023 became known.
The European grand league, as before, will host 10 teams. Next season, the LEC welcomes newcomer and reigning champions in a new look.

There are two new names on the entry list compared to the LEC Summer 2022 split, but there is one actual newcomer. Ibay Llanos and Gerard Pique’s Spanish organization, KOI, absorbed Rogue for the LEC Summer 2022 champions slot.
Team Heretics will be the newcomer to the LEC, playing in the LEC European title league for the first time. The Spanish club has bought out the Misfits slot.
The Spaniards returned to the competitive League of Legends this year after a 5-year hiatus and have already made a name for themselves in Europe. For 2022, the club have won the Superliga Summer 2022 and European Masters Summer 2022.
Heretics, like the other nine LEC 2023 participants, will begin their journey into the new competitive season in January 2023. The clubs will play a revamped European league format: instead of the usual two splits, there will be 3, and the league will have a final final.
